ESG regulation – an outlook on developments for the year 2024

Overview of the most important regulatory changes that will shape 2024.

Today’s financial world is characterised by multiple change processes taking place at a more intense and rapidly increasing pace than we have likely ever experienced before. Sustainability is and remains a dominant issue. Our latest GSK Update at the start of the year concisely presents some of the groundbreaking changes and key issues in the area of ESG that will have a significant impact on the financial industry in 2024.

In addition to the implementation of changes to sustainability reporting under the CSRD and amendments to the ESRS standards and international IFRS reporting requirements, the revision of the SFDR at various levels as well as new ESMA guidelines on ESG-related fund names will also need to be taken into account in the coming year.

In addition, our GSK Update provides an overview of new reporting obligations under the Taxonomy Regulation, the increased due diligence obligations under the CSDDD and the Deforestation Regulation. There is also a spotlight on current administrative practice – of both BaFin in Germany and the CSSF in Luxembourg.
